Singapore Airlines Flight 6

Singapore Airlines Flight 6 is a flight that flew on a Changi International Airport, Singapore-Chiang Kai Shek International Airport, Taipei, Taiwan-Los Angeles International Airport, Los Angeles, California. The plane on the flight crashed on October 31, 2000.

On October 31, 2000, 9V-SPK, the Boeing 747-412 took off from the wrong runway at Chiang Kai-shek Airport. The crew, for reasons not entirely explained, were unaware that runway 05R had been closed for repairs following the passing of Typhoon Xiang Sane. In consequence, the aircraft ran into construction machinery, and the aircraft exploded.

79 of 159 passengers and 4 of 20 crew members died.
