Liverpool John Lennon Airport

Liverpool John Lennon Airport (IATA Airport Code LPL) is a fairly sized aviation facility in Liverpool. It was named after the late John Lennon, a founding member of Liverpudlian music group The Beatles, in 2000, twenty years after Lennon's murder. Before this, the airport used to be known as Speke.

On the roof is painted the airport's motto, a line from Lennon's song, Imagine: "Above us, only sky".

Although such local airlines as BEA and later British Airways have served from time to time, the airport is basically a charter airline haven. It is capable of accepting all kinds of jets.
