Charmeleon (Rizaado in Romaji Japanese) is a Stage 1 fire-type Pokémon that evolves from Charmander at level 16 and further evolves into Charizard at level 36. Like Charmander, Charmeleon has a flame burning at the end of his tail; however, unlike its peaceful basic form, Charmeleon is constantly looking for battles, calming down only when it wins. Charmeleon can attack both with his claws as well as his fiery tail, and is also able to spout flames when excited.

Name Origin

Charmeleon's name is a combination of "Char" and "Chameleon." His Japanese name is probably a pronunciation of the word "Lizard."

Availability

In Pokémon Red/Blue, Yellow and Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal, Charmeleon can be obtained by evolving Charmander. In Pokémon Sapphire/Ruby, Charmeleon is not available at all.

Strengths / Weaknesses

Charmeleon is vulnerable to Water, Ground and Rock, and strong against Fire, Bug, Grass, Steel and (in Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal) Ice.
