She was the first producer of science fiction television series Doctor Who (it was also her first job as producer).
After working at the BBC on Doctor Who and Adam Adamant Lives (both of which, like The Avengers, were created by Sydney Newman), she moved to head drama at Thames Television, eventually winding up on the board.
After heading TV-movie firm Euston Films in 1979-82, she became head of Thorn EMI Screen Entertainment 1982-85 before starting her own firm, Cinema Verity.
In 2002, she was awarded an OBE for services to film and television production.
