Stratford, Connecticut

Stratford is a town in Fairfield County, Connecticut, located on Long Island Sound at the mouth of the Housatonic River. It was founded in 1639 and has a current population of over 49,000 living within its 18.7 square miles.

In 1939 the world's first helicopter was developed here by Igor Sikorsky.
