The Secretary of State for Air was a cabinet level British position, in charge of the Air Ministry. It was created on 2 January1918 and charged with the creation of the Royal Air Force. In 1966 the Air Ministry was incorporated into the Ministry of Defence and the position of Secretary of State for Air was abolished.
