Plattsburg is a city located in Clinton County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,354. It is the county seat of Clinton County6.

census of 2000, there are 2,354 people, 918 households, and 631 families residing in the city. The population density is 256.7/km² (665.1/mi²). There are 1,002 housing units at an average density of 109.3/km² (283.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 91.21% White, 6.24% African American, 0.21% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.51% from other races, and 1.61% from two or more races. 0.98% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 918 households out of which 32.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.9% are married couples living together, 11.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.2% are non-families. 27.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.47 and the average family size is 2.99. In the city the population is spread out with 26.7% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 27.0% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 16.4% who are 65 years of age or older.
