Operation Danny

In between the first and second truce of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, Operation Danny (or Operation Dani - Mitzva Dani in Hebrew) was carried out. The objective of the operation was to relive Jerusalem and remove the Arab threat to Tel Aviv. The road between the two cities was once again controlled by the arabs after Operation Nachshon had opened it.

The first phase was to capture Lod and Ramle which resided along the road and the second phase to capture Latrun and Ramallah. The operation was carried out under Palmach command utilizing the Yiftach Brigade, the 8th Armored Brigade and two battalions from the Kiryati and Alexandroni brigades.
