Except for Lewis, the rest of the girls in the band lived all their teenaged lives in Los Angeles. Lewis was born in London. She and her family moved to the States when she was four. She is the daughter of Adrian Gurvitz, a famed guitarist, and in 2000, she convinced him it was her dream to become a music superstar, and that he could make it come true. So they had the idea of making a girl band, and Ryusaki and Tanner joined them soon after. Ryusaki and Tanner are cousins and had been hula hoop dancers for some time. Then, Gurvitz placed an ad in a local newspaper, and Faith answered, bringing her friend Fried along with her.
Later in 2002, the group released their self titled first album, which includes Kids in America, a remake of the 1982 hit that was popularized by Kim Wilde.
