Lake and Peninsula Borough is a borough located in the U.S. State of Alaska. As of 2000, the population is 1,823. The borough seat is King Salmon.

Geography

\nThe borough has a total area of 80,049 km² (30,907 mi²). 61,595 km² (23,782 mi²) of it is land and 18,454 km² (7,125 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 23.05% water.

The racial makeup of the borough is 18.76% White, 0.05% Black or African American, 73.51% Native American, 0.22% Asian, 0.16% Pacific Islander, 0.33% from other races, and 6.97% from two or more races. 1.15% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 588 households out of which 44.70% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.50% are married couples living together, 9.70% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.90% are non-families. 24.70% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.90% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.10 and the average family size is 3.74. In the borough the population is spread out with 37.80% under the age of 18, 8.50% from 18 to 24, 28.00% from 25 to 44, 20.20% from 45 to 64, and 5.40% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 29 years. For every 100 females there are 113.50 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 124.10 males.
