Johnson County is a county located in the U.S. State of Texas. As of 2000, the population is 126,811. Its county seat is Cleburne6. This county is part of the Metroplex.

Geography

\nAccording to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,902 km² (734 mi²). 1,889 km² (729 mi²) of it is land and 13 km² (5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.68% water.

census2 of 2000, there are 126,811 people, 43,636 households, and 34,428 families residing in the county. The population density is 67/km² (174/mi²). There are 46,269 housing units at an average density of 24/km² (63/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 90.01% White, 2.50% Black or African American, 0.64% Native American, 0.52% Asian, 0.18% Pacific Islander, 4.52% from other races, and 1.63% from two or more races. 12.12% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 43,636 households out of which 39.50% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.70% are married couples living together, 10.00% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.10% are non-families. 17.30% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.90% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.85 and the average family size is 3.20. In the county, the population is spread out with 28.80% under the age of 18, 8.80% from 18 to 24, 30.20% from 25 to 44, 22.30% from 45 to 64, and 10.00% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 99.70 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.10 males. The median income for a household in the county is $44,621, and the median income for a family is $49,963. Males have a median income of $36,718 versus $25,149 for females. The per capita income for the county is $18,400. 8.80% of the population and 6.90% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 10.60% are under the age of 18 and 10.90% are 65 or older.
