Jack Longland

Sir Jack Longland (June 26 1905 - November 29 1993) was an educator and mountain climber.

He was Director of Education for Derbyshire for 23 years.

As a mountaineer, he is remembered for his heroic actions during an expedition up Mount Everest in 1933.

He was the first quizmaster on the BBC radio panel game My Word.
