Gósol, Lleida

The village of Gósol is located at the northwest of the region of Berguedà in Catalonia (Spain), (The Pyrenees in Lleida province).

Gósol belongs to natural park: Cadí-Moixeró.

Gósol is reached by the road B-400 that leaves "El Collet" at kilometre 112,9 of the local road from Abrera to Bellver de Cerdanya (Llobregat axis: old C-1411 and at the moment C-16/E-9). Exit a road asphalted recently in the section comprised betwen Tuixén and Gósol (C-563).

We arrive at Gósol too, coming from: St Llorenç de Morunys (by La Coma and La Pedra), by El Port del Compte (coming from Solsona) and coming from La Seu d'Urgell. By these three routes we pass unavoidably by the villages of Tuixén and Josa del Cadí.

Gosol's emblematic cultural symbol is the Picasso Museum, which owes its existence to the visit of the painter Pablo Picasso to the village in the spring of the year 1906 and which lasted until the first half of August. The artist installed himself at the only inn which then existed, Cal Tampanada, at that time the property of Josep Fontdevila. In Gósol, Picasso underwent a transformation and during this period changed his palette, his sketching style and his rhythm of composition. His models were Fernande Olivier (his partner at the time), the village, the people of the area, the cows and the horses.

Year 2006: centenary of Pablo Picasso's stay in Gósol.

Doctor Agustí Pedro i Pons stayed in Gósol a long time.

The village of Sorribes (2 kms from Gósol) belong to district of Gósol. Every year there is the mountain biking tour between Gósol and Berga.

Annually, one weekend of the month of July there is a popular truckload around Gósol.

Also it organize the route of reapers of Gósol (from Gósol to Bellver de Cerdanya by the mountain range of Cadí).
