Delmarva Peninsula

The Delmarva Peninsula on the east coast of the United States is occupied by portions of three states, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. It is almost 300 km by 100 km and is bordered by the Chesapeake Bay on the west, the Delaware River, Delaware Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean on the east. Its northern isthmus is cut by the Chesapeake-Delaware Canal. Bridges across the canal and the Chesapeake and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel at the southern tip join the peninsula to the mainland. Dover, the capital of Delaware, is in the northeast corner, but the peninsula's main commercial center is Salisbury, Maryland, near the center of the peninsula.
