Cherryfield is a town located in Washington County, Maine. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,157.

United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 114.6 km² (44.2 mi²). 113.3 km² (43.7 mi²) of it is land and 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.18% water.


\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 1,157 people, 493 households, and 317 families residing in the town. The population density is 10.2/km² (26.5/mi²). There are 644 housing units at an average density of 5.7/km² (14.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.01% White, 0.09% African American, 0.69% Native American, 0.43% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 0.61% from two or more races. 0.09% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 493 households out of which 27.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.7% are married couples living together, 8.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.5% are non-families. 30.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.29 and the average family size is 2.85. In the town the population is spread out with 22.5% under the age of 18, 5.3% from 18 to 24, 24.0% from 25 to 44, 27.5% from 45 to 64, and 20.7% who are 65 years of age or older.
