Call of Duty

Call of Duty (released in 2003) is a video game in the first-person shooter genre, based on the Quake 3 engine. This wargame simulates the infantry and combined arms warfare of World War II. The game was produced by Activision and Infinity Ward.

It is similar to Battlefield 1942 and Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. It includes various singleplayer campaigns and missions, from the perspective of a soldier in the 101st Airborne Division, a soldier in the British 3rd Airborne Division, and a soldier in the Russian Red Army. The last of these begins with a scene almost identical (with very similar dialogue) to the scene that begins the movie, Enemy at the Gates.

The weapons portrayed in this game include the M1 Garand, the Kar98k, the Mosin-Nagant, and the Lee-Enfield (the four main long rifles of World War II). Also, various stationary weapons, including flak cannons and MG42s are used.

The multiplayer of this game is similar to that of most first-person shooters; with arbitrary respawning, selection of weapons at the start of the game (and the possibility of selecting to respawn with a different weapon), and relatively fast-paced gameplay.
