Blawnox is a borough located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 1,550.

Demographics

census of 2000, there are 1,550 people, 858 households, and 373 families residing in the borough. The population density is 1,870.2/km² (4,771.6/mi²). There are 931 housing units at an average density of 1,123.3/km² (2,866.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 93.03% White, 1.03% African American, 0.06% Native American, 5.23% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.19% from other races, and 0.45% from two or more races. 0.65% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 858 households out of which 15.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 29.4% are married couples living together, 10.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 56.5% are non-families. 51.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 19.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.81 and the average family size is 2.68. In the borough the population is spread out with 14.5% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 31.7% from 25 to 44, 25.0% from 45 to 64, and 21.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 43 years. For every 100 females there are 86.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 83.9 males.
