Augustin Alexandre Darthé

Augustin Alexandre Darthé (born in Saint-Pol sur Ternoise in 1769, died in Vendôme on April 7, 1797 8 Prairial). Administrator of the Département of Pas-de-Calais, then public agitator, this young admirer of Robespierre and active stakeholder of the French Revolution escaped death penalty after the Thermidor events. Then, he acquainted with Babeuf, actively organized the Conspiration of the Equals. The Conspiration of the Equals ought to have reflected the "Manifest of the Equals"--written by Sylvain Maréchal--aiming at taking the power by violence and forcing equality of rights, questioning the fact that democratic elections and electors can be trusted to improve society.
