Alexandropol, Armenia

Alexandropol (or Gyumri) is a city in western Armenia. It is believed that the city was founded in the 5th century BC by the Greeks.

The Russians fought the Turks here in 1853.

Birthplace of G. I. Gurdjieff the Greek-Armenian mystic and 'teacher of dancing'.
