Zizhi Tongjian

Zizhi Tongjian (traditional Chinese character: 資治通鑑; simplified Chinese character: 资治通鑑; pinyin Zīzhì Tōngjìan) is known as the first Chinese history text to chronicle events annually. Sima Guang had been the major contributor from collecting primary sources, drafting to publication. It recounts the history of China from Warring States Period to the end of Period of the Five Dynasties and the Ten Kingdoms. Literary meaning of the Chinese title is Comprehensive Mirror for Aid in Government.
