Zemun

Zemun is a major part of Belgrade, Yugoslavia.

First written records mention this city in the XII century. The name Zemun is believed to be derived from Serbian word "zemunica" (from slavic word "zemlin" meaning "earth"), a kind of house that is dug into the ground. Once an independent city, since 1945 it is part of Belgrade.
