Zager and Evans

Zager and Evans were a rock band of the late 1960s and early 1970s named after its two members, Denny Zager and Rick Evans. They are best known for writing the prophetic song "In the Year 2525", presenting its views on the dangers of technology as it portrays humanity as being increasingly destroyed by its own technological innovations and inability to adapt. In 1969 their single "In the Year 2525" hit #1 on the charts. The band may be the ultimate example of a one-hit wonder; while the song that broke them out into fame peaked at first place in the charts, they never wrote another song that made the Top 40.
