Woudenberg

Woudenberg (population: 11,025) is a town in the central Netherlands, in the province of Utrecht. It is located about 8 km south of Amersfoort. The municipality covers an area of 36.72 km2.

The name Woudenberg refers to a forested mountain (probably a hill); nowadays the town lies in an agricultural area. The main sources of income were the raising of livestock and the cultivation of tobacco. Currently, most people work out of town, mostly the surrounding towns of Amersfoort, Utrecht and Veenendaal.

There are still forests in the western part of the municipality. the Pyramid of Austerlitz is located here.
