Woodbury is a town located in Litchfield County, Connecticut. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 9,198.

Geography

United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 95.1 km² (36.7 mi²). 94.5 km² (36.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.74% water.

Demographics

\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 9,198 people, 3,715 households, and 2,574 families residing in the town. The population density is 97.4/km² (252.2/mi²). There are 3,869 housing units at an average density of 41.0/km² (106.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.25% White, 0.53% African American, 0.22% Native American, 1.15% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 0.22% from other races, and 0.57% from two or more races. 1.65% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 3,715 households out of which 31.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.9% are married couples living together, 8.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.7% are non-families. 25.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.48 and the average family size is 2.99. In the town the population is spread out with 24.0% under the age of 18, 4.4% from 18 to 24, 29.3% from 25 to 44, 29.3% from 45 to 64, and 13.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 41 years. For every 100 females there are 95.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.8 males. The median income for a household in the town is $68,322, and the median income for a family is $82,641. Males have a median income of $53,246 versus $35,298 for females.
