Wojciech Frykowski

Wojciech "Wojtek" Frykowski was born on December 22, 1936 in Poland. His name is frequently given incorrectly as "Voytek Frykowski." His father helped finance one of Roman Polanski's early films after World War II. Wojciech played a thief in Polanski's short film, "Mammals." He married twice and fathered a son, Bartek. Later, he moved to Paris, France.

In early 1968, author Jerzy Kosinski introduced Frykowski to Abigail Folger, heiress to the Folger Coffee fortune. In August, Frykowski and Folger left New York and moved to their new home at 2774 Woodstock Road, Hollywood, California.

In March 1969, Frykowski and Folger temporarily moved to 10050 Cielo Drive in Beverly Hills. They were housesitting for director Roman Polanski and actress Sharon Tate while the pair were in Europe. Early on August 9, 1969, the couple (along with Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring and Steven Parent) were murdered by followers of Charles Manson.
