William D. Hoard

Willaim D. Hoard (born ?) was a politician from Wisconsin, USA.

Under his administration came the first public shool system. He approved a plan for a public school system that required every child over the age of five to attend school sixty days a year. The plan met with dissatisfaction from both parents and teachers alike. The plan stipulated that all classes, public and private were to be taught in English bfore this the private schools were teaching in German, French and Polish. The move also saw four socialist from the Milwaukee area being elected to the state legislature to overturn the bill.
