Wickliffe is a city located in Ballard County, Kentucky. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 794. It is the county seat of Ballard County6.

Demographics

census of 2000, there are 794 people, 327 households, and 216 families residing in the city. The population density is 223.8/km² (578.3/mi²). There are 384 housing units at an average density of 108.2/km² (279.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 94.33% White, 1.76% African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.88% Asian, 0.25% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 2.64% from two or more races. 1.26% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 327 households out of which 25.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.1% are married couples living together, 10.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.9% are non-families. 30.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.25 and the average family size is 2.74. In the city the population is spread out with 19.0% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 26.3% from 45 to 64, and 18.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 112.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 107.4 males. The median income for a household in the city is $28,750, and the median income for a family is $35,417. Males have a median income of $30,556 versus $16,477 for females.
