Whitney is a town located in Clark County, Nevada. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 18,273.

Demographics

census of 2000, there are 18,273 people, 7,090 households, and 4,502 families residing in the town. The population density is 942.0/km² (2,438.9/mi²). There are 7,849 housing units at an average density of 404.6/km² (1,047.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 72.24% White, 6.82% African American, 1.11% Native American, 3.81% Asian, 0.45% Pacific Islander, 11.04% from other races, and 4.53% from two or more races. 25.29% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 7,090 households out of which 28.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.8% are married couples living together, 14.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 36.5% are non-families. 27.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.57 and the average family size is 3.14. In the town the population is spread out with 25.1% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 31.3% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 11.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 104.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 103.8 males. The median income for a household in the town is $36,536, and the median income for a family is $41,504. Males have a median income of $30,833 versus $23,988 for females.
