White Wolf

White Wolf Game Studio is a gaming company that created the Vampire: The Masquerade roleplaying game out of a live-action roleplaying game that the founders helped anarchically coordinate among the goth music denizens of Atlanta, Georgia. They took their name from Michael Moorcock's fiction, and went on to become a pretty standard role playing game company from these rather unusual roots.

White Wolf publishes a line of nine different but overlapping horror games set in the "World of Darkness", in appearance like our own, only with a much more sinister bent. In the World of Darkness, vampires, werewolves, mages and other creatures of the night exist and fight each other while remaining hidden from normal humans. The company has also begun publishing some d20_system material under the Sword and Sorcery label and revived the Ravenloft Gothic horror world owned by Wizards of the Coast.

To complement some of the company's game lines, there is a live action roleplaying (LARP) system dubbed Mind's Eye Theatre.
