Whetstone is a town located in Cochise County, Arizona. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,354.

census2 of 2000, there are 2,354 people, 904 households, and 664 families residing in the town. The population density is 77.0/km² (199.5/mi²). There are 1,056 housing units at an average density of 34.6/km² (89.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 84.03% White, 2.93% Black or African American, 1.23% Native American, 0.85% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 6.50% from other races, and 4.46% from two or more races. 13.76% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 904 households out of which 32.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.2% are married couples living together, 10.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.5% are non-families. 20.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.60 and the average family size is 3.02. In the town the population is spread out with 27.4% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 25.3% from 25 to 44, 28.0% from 45 to 64, and 13.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.0 males.
