Westport is a town located in Lincoln County, Maine. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 745.


\nAccording to the
United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 36.8 km² (14.2 mi²). 22.6 km² (8.7 mi²) of it is land and 14.1 km² (5.5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 38.45% water.


\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 745 people, 318 households, and 228 families residing in the town. The population density is 32.9/km² (85.2/mi²). There are 510 housing units at an average density of 22.5/km² (58.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.26% White, 0.13% African American, 0.67% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.94% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 318 households out of which 26.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.9% are married couples living together, 6.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.0% are non-families. 24.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.33 and the average family size is 2.74. In the town the population is spread out with 22.4% under the age of 18, 3.1% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 32.6% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 45 years. For every 100 females there are 98.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.7 males.
