Westmont is a village located in DuPage County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 24,554.

Demographics

census of 2000, there are 24,554 people, 9,900 households, and 5,979 families residing in the village. The population density is 1,934.8/km² (5,014.4/mi²). There are 10,269 housing units at an average density of 809.2/km² (2,097.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 78.02% White, 5.38% African American, 0.13% Native American, 11.95% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.41% from other races, and 2.11% from two or more races. 6.98% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 9,900 households out of which 29.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.1% are married couples living together, 10.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.6% are non-families. 32.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.37 and the average family size is 3.05. In the village the population is spread out with 21.9% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 33.8% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 87.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 82.9 males. The median income for a household in the village is $51,422, and the median income for a family is $64,472. Males have a median income of $42,909 versus $33,690 for females. The per capita income for the village is $26,394. 5.8% of the population and 3.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 4.8% are under the age of 18 and 8.5% are 65 or older.
