West Chicago is a city located in DuPage County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 23,469.

census of 2000, there are 23,469 people, 6,379 households, and 5,230 families residing in the city. The population density is 654.7/km² (1,695.9/mi²). There are 6,567 housing units at an average density of 183.2/km² (474.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 77.85% White, 1.68% African American, 0.36% Native American, 1.95% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 15.11% from other races, and 3.01% from two or more races. 48.60% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 6,379 households out of which 48.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.3% are married couples living together, 8.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 18.0% are non-families. 12.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.64 and the average family size is 3.91. In the city the population is spread out with 31.6% under the age of 18, 13.4% from 18 to 24, 34.6% from 25 to 44, 15.8% from 45 to 64, and 4.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 28 years. For every 100 females there are 114.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 117.0 males. The median income for a household in the city is $63,424, and the median income for a family is $65,744. Males have a median income of $39,723 versus $27,285 for females.
