Wells is a city located in Faribault County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,494.

United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.5 km² (1.4 mi²). 3.5 km² (1.4 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 2,494 people, 1,032 households, and 665 families residing in the city. The population density is 713.3/km² (1,846.5/mi²). There are 1,097 housing units at an average density of 313.7/km² (812.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 96.31% White, 0.04% African American, 0.16% Native American, 0.68% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.17% from other races, and 0.64% from two or more races. 4.73% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,032 households out of which 28.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.1% are married couples living together, 7.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.5% are non-families. 32.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 19.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.33 and the average family size is 2.94. In the city the population is spread out with 23.3% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 22.1% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 26.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 43 years. For every 100 females there are 87.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 82.6 males. The median income for a household in the city is $26,463, and the median income for a family is $38,523. Males have a median income of $27,969 versus $19,873 for females.
