Wari

This is an article about the Pre-Columbian Wari civilization of South America. For Wari the board game, see: mancala.
The Wari civilization flourished in the southern Andes from about 500 to 1200 AD. It was the center of an empire that covered most of the highlands of modern Peru. It was the first large empire in South America. The Wari capital was near Ayacucho, Peru. Some 300 years after the Wari empire collapsed, the Inca Empire became the dominant power in the Andean region.
