Vasily Andreevich Tropinin

Vasily Andreevich Tropinin (born 1776 - died 1857) is a Russian painter who worked in the Romantic movement. Much of his life was spent as a serf; he didn't attain his freedom until he was more than forty years old. His artistic output is reduced as such. Two of his more important works are a portrait of Alexander Pushkin and a portrait called "The Lace Maker."
