USS Colorado

Three ships of the United States Navy have been named USS Colorado in honor of the 38th state.

The first USS Colorado, a screw steam frigate, saw action in the American Civil War.

The second USS Colorado (ACR-7), a Pennsylvania-class armored cruiser, patrolled the South Atlantic during World War I, preventing the sailing of German and Austrian ships interned at Bahia, Brazil.

The third USS Colorado (BB-45) was the lead ship of her class of battleship.
