University of Warwick Students' Union

The University of Warwick Students' Union is the student union for the University of Warwick. It runs 8 bars.

Politics

The Union has four policy making bodies:

  1. Referenda - Conducted by the Elections Group
  2. General Meetings - open to all full members and have a quorum of 300. The Annual General meeting (AGM) approves the Union's accountants and appoints an auditor.
  3. Union Council - a group of about 100 Councillors and officers elected from the student population. The chair and Deputy Chair do not normaly vote. The chair votes to brake a tie. The quorum for council is exactly one half of its current members.
  4. Executive Committee - a standing committee with 13 members. It consists of the seven Sabbatical Officers and six chairs of standing committeees. The Executive committee can take the powers of Council in three exceptional situations:in an emergancy when Council cannot meet, when the last three meetings of Council were inquorate or when Council delegate their powers to the Executive.
