The University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), located in Vila Real, Portugal, was created in 1986 from the structure of the "old" Instituto Politécnico de Vila Real, dating from 1973. There are campuses in Chaves and Miranda do Douro. The UTAD is known for it's forestry and wine-making courses.
