Town meeting

Town meeting is a form of government in which all the adults in a geographic community are invited to gather together once a year to debate and vote on issues of local importance, notably the annual budget.

Its most widespread practice is in the New England portion of the US, where it is officially called annual meeting because it can also be used by school districts.
