The Pied Piper (1942 movie)

The Pied Piper is a 1942 film in which an Englishman, on vacation in France, is caught up in the German invasion of that country, and finds himself helping a large group of children to safety. It stars Monty Woolley, Roddy McDowall, Anne Baxter, Otto Preminger, J. Carrol Naish, Lester Matthews, Jill Esmond, Ferike Boros and Peggy Ann Garner.

The movie was adapted by Nunnally Johnson from the novel by Nevil Shute. It was directed by Irving Pichel.

It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Monty Woolley), Best Cinematography, Black-and-White and Best Picture.
