Thanjavur

Thanjavur is the name of a town in Tamil Nadu, India, that was once the stronghold of the historic Chola dynasty. Thanjavur is famous for the Brihadeeswara Temple built by Raja Raja Chola. The river Cauvery flows through this region making it a fertile and bountiful land. Most of the rice produce in Tamil Nadu is from this region. Thanjavur is also a famous cultural centre, known for its contribution to Carnatic music.
