Sudbury Neutrino Observatory

The Sudbury Neutrino Observatory, or SNO for short, is located over a mile underground in an old mine near Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. The detector, made of heavy water, is designed to detect cosmic neutrinos, with the objectives of understanding the solar neutrino problem and neutrino mass.
