Sudbury Neutrino Observatory
The Sudbury Neutrino Observatory
, or SNO for short, is located over a mile underground in an old mine near Sudbury
. The detector, made of heavy water
, is designed to detect cosmic neutrinos
, with the objectives of understanding the solar neutrino problem
and neutrino mass.
