\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 942 people, 397 households, and 235 families residing in the town. The population density is 4.6/km² (11.8/mi²). There are 540 housing units at an average density of 2.6/km² (6.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 95.75% White, 0.00% African American, 1.27% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.11% from other races, and 2.87% from two or more races. 0.74% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 397 households out of which 26.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.6% are married couples living together, 12.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 40.8% are non-families. 32.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
