SSE2

SSE2 provides double precision and 128-bit integer (int128) SIMD acceleration for Intel's Pentium 4. Single precision operations are handled in the same manner as SSE.

SSE2 allows working with 2 64-bit floating point values in parallel to achieve 128-bit manipulation. SSE2 follows in capibility of SSE in being able to add 4 32-bit or 8 16-bit values as well.

Rival chip-maker AMD added support for SSE2 in their Opteron range of CPUs.
