South Dakota State University

The largest university in South Dakota, located in Brookings. Founded as a land grant university, SDSU continues that tradition with strong academic programs in agriculture and liberal arts, in addition to excellent programs for engineering, nursing, pharmacy, education, etc.

SDSU awards Bachelor's degreess, Master's Degrees, and Doctoral Degrees. There are about 1100 graduate students enrolled at SDSU.

The SDSU campus features the H.M. Briggs Library, the South Dakota Art Museum (featuring works by Harvey Dunn and Oscar Howe, among others), and the Coughlin Campanile, in addition to the normal assortment of college buildings.

SDSU's athletic mascot is the Jackrabbit. The homecoming celebration is called Hobo Days, and is billed as "The Biggest One-Day Event in the Dakotas." The SDSU Band, "The Pride of the Dakotas" is known throughout the region.

One of SDSU's most-known alumni is Tom Daschle, Senate Majority Leader in the United States Senate.
