Sneaker Pimps

Sneaker Pimps is a British band formed in 1993. Sneaker Pimps consists of Liam Howe, Chris Corner, and at one time vocalist Kelli Dayton, who left after making their first album Becoming X. Their albums so far have been Becoming X (1996), Splinter (1999), and Bloodsport (2002).

Kelli's amicable departure, while lamented by many, was well received by critics who felt that it gave the band a more honest, emotional timbre. It has also helped curb the inevitable comparisons with Portishead. The band felt that Chris' vocals would be a better fit for Chris' lyrics. Consensus amongst fans is that the songs since Becoming X have lost the sometimes creepy bubblegum feel, but have gained an emotional intensity beyond what Kelli's could provide.
