Sluzhba Vneshney Razvedki (SVR) is Russia's Foreign Intelligence Agency. Established after the Cold War, SVR is considered the KGB's successor. Sergei Nikolayevich Lebedev was appointed by Vladimir Putin, Russia's current president, as the new head in 2000.
