Salina is a town located in Mayes County, Oklahoma. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,422.

1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.9 km² (1.1 mi²). 2.7 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 8.04% water.


\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 1,422 people, 562 households, and 351 families residing in the town. The population density is 533.0/km² (1,375.2/mi²). There are 668 housing units at an average density of 250.4/km² (646.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 59.56% White, 0.14% African American, 34.74% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.28% from other races, and 5.20% from two or more races. 2.04% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 562 households out of which 29.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.2% are married couples living together, 12.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.4% are non-families. 33.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.40 and the average family size is 3.10. In the town the population is spread out with 25.6% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 24.9% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 16.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 93.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 87.6 males. The median income for a household in the town is $23,519, and the median income for a family is $31,000. Males have a median income of $26,552 versus $17,292 for females.
