Rod Langway

Rod Langway (born May 3, 1957) is a former American professional Ice hockey player.

Rod Langway was the long time captain of the Washington Capitals, and what many people considered the franchise's savoir. The Capitals acquired Langway from the Montreal Canadians in a blockbuster trade that stocked the Canadians for several strong postseason campaigns and led to an extended string of postseason appearances for the Capitals, after never having reached the playoffs previously.

Langway was not the sort of player that one would expect to save a franchise. He was the ultimate defender whose shot was likened to a "cool summer breeze." Despite his lack of offensive production, Langway was an accomplished leader that demanded greatness from himself and others.
